Valorant Not Starting? Fix It With These Solutions

3 Mins read

This guide will discuss the problem where Valorant does not launch. This guide will discuss the causes of this issue and how you can fix it as fast as possible to get Valorant up and running.

Important notes:

  • Virtual Machines can conflict with Valorant, and could prevent you running the game.
  • Don’t run Valorant on Windows 10 builds. These unfinished OS versions are not optimized for gaming and are often prone to issues. Video drivers are not available for Windows 10 builds.
  • Check that you are running the most recent Windows 10 version. To be certain, check for updates.
  • Make sure you have the most recent graphics driver updates.

How do you fix Valorant not opening

Restart your router and computer Restarting your computer and network devices is the fastest way to fix connection problems that may cause the game to not launch.

Some gamers claimed that they had to restart their devices two or three times to resolve the problem. Try it and let us know if you find the solution to your problem. You can always try the next option if it doesn’t work.

Run Valorant as Administrator Sometimes your OS might not grant Valorant the permissions necessary to launch and function as intended. Run the game as an administrator to avoid these issues.

This will notify the OS that it is safe to play the game and that it requires full permissions.

How to manage Valorant as an administrator

  1. Go to File Explorer.
  2. Choose This PC
  3. You can open the Local Disk (C) from which you saved the game files. You can also right-click on Valorant’s desktop shortcut.
  4. Select Properties
  5. Under the Compatibility tab, check the box titled Run As Administrator
  6. Click Apply to launch the game again.

Modify the Environment Variables
  1. Use the Search Bar to type Environment Variables
  2. Double-click on the first result in order to open the Edit system environment variables app
  3. Click on Environment Variables
  4. Click on the New button to create a new system variable
    • The variable’s name is OPENSSL_ia32cap
    • The variable’s value is: 0x200000200000000
  5. You can save the changes.

OpenSSL will now use this variable to tell it not to use the AES-NI instruction set that is on your CPU, but instead use a software implementation.

End Riots and Valorant processes If Valorant is still not launched, you can try to end all RiotClientServices or Valorant processes in the Task Manager.

  1. Type task manager into the Search box
  2. Double-click the first result to open the Task manager
  3. All the Riot- and Valorant processes can be found under the Processes tab
  4. Right-click them and choose End Task
  5. Start the game again to verify that it works.

Disable unneeded start up processes Valorant might be affected by some apps or programs. You can disable all start-up processes to eliminate this possibility.

These are the steps:

  1. To launch the System, click on the Search button and type in the msconfig box
  2. In the text bar at bottom of the menu, type msconfig
  3. Click on the Services tab
  4. Check Hide all Microsoft Services
  5. Click on the Disable all button
  6. Re-check the vcg. This is necessary for VALORANT. The game will not launch if you disable it.
  7. Click on the Startup tab
  8. Click on To Disable All
  9. Restart your computer by applying the above instructions

Clean Install Valorant, Riot Vanguard, and the Riot Client
  1. Type Add or Remove Programs in the Search box.
  2. Locate Riot Vanguard and Valorant, click on them, and then click on Uninstall
  3. Navigate to the C.Riot Games directory
  4. Destroy the Riot Client and Valorant folders. To get rid of any software leftovers, empty the Recycle Bin.
  5. Open File Explorer, and delete the Riot Games directory
  6. Restart your computer
  7. Download Valorant again
  8. Follow the instructions on the screen to install it as administrator.

Uninstall Gigabyte’s EasyTune or other GPU software Uninstall Gigabyte’s EasyTune and App center if you have them installed. They seem to interfere with the launch phase of the game for some reason.

Remove all similar software and tools from your computer. Also, disable overclocking software or other GPU-related programs.

After the update, Valorant will not launch

If Valorant does not launch after you have installed the latest updates, follow these steps:

  1. You can close the game and deactivate any Riot Games-related tasks in the Task manager.
  2. Use Add or Remove programs to uninstall Vanguard and Valorant
  3. Type this command into the Command Prompt and launch it as administrator
    • sc delete vgc
  4. Click Enter and type the following command:
    • sc delete vgk
  5. Enter
  6. Start your computer again and then download the game.
  7. If Vanguard is prompted, restart the computer.

Many Valorant players verified that they had fixed the problem by closing the PremierOpinion process within Task Manager. This is a form of adware which monitors user behavior and blocks executable files.

Launch the Task manager and click on the Processings tab. Right-click on PremierOpinion or other similar processes and choose End task. Close any suspicious tasks you find.

This is how Valorant can be repaired if it crashes or fails to launch.

Enjoy the game!
