Wrestlemania 2000 for the N64 was one of my favourite games growing up. It was an amazing game and is still one of my favorite wrestling games. It wasn’t the only outstanding wrestling game on that console.
The N64 was full of great grappling games. These are the top 5 N64 wrestling games.
5. WWF War Zone
War Zone is the first Nintendo 64 wrestling game. The game was a huge success at the time. It was the first ever 3D professional wrestling game. The unique grappling system featured button combination movies and some really amazing entrance sequences.
too had a good selection of match modes. You could end up with a messy match if you go for Hardcore. However, you can keep it simple with singles or tag team matches, and you could also enter the chaos of the Royal Rumble, which was an exclusive Nintendo 64 game mode.
There were 18 different wrestlers available, including heavy hitters like Kane, Triple H, Triple H and Stone Cold Steve Austin. The roster also includes a number of big names, making War Zone a great and highly respected N64 wrestling game. The WWF Attitude was also born from the success of War Zone.
4. Virtual Pro Wrestling 2
The Virtual Pro Wrestling2 is a lesser-known wrestling game for the N64. It’s a great game. This game is a must-see for anyone who loves Japanese pro wrestling.
The biggest attraction is the gameplay. It boasts a wide variety of moves and fighting styles. You can choose from around 80 VPW2 wrestlers, as well as multiple attires for each one. Hayabusa, Kenta Kobashi and The Great Sasuke are some of the most well-known names.
Although there are a few American legends included in the game’s roster, it is not difficult to understand if you don’t know much about Japanese pro wrestling. A great wrestling experience VPW2.
3. WCW/nWo Revenge
This may have been the best N64 pro-wrestling game if you were a WCW fan. It’s not unreasonable to believe so. Revengeis a sequel to 1997’s WCW against NWO: World Tour. It was, in many ways, a much better version.
A variety of new features were added such as ring entry, ringside manager, larger roster and better graphics. All of these factors combined made Revenge one of the most popular games for the Nintendo 64.
You can take on the roles of Goldberg, Kevin Nash and Chris Jericho in a fully-rounded grappling experience. You can also choose from a variety of fictional characters, and there is a great character customization tool. Revenge is one of the most innovative wrestling games ever released. It’s also easily one the best N64 games.
2. WWF WrestleMania 2000
Wrestlemania2000 was not perfect but it was a lot of fun. After all previous work with WCW licenses, it was the first WWF video published by THQ. It was developed by AKI Ace and Asmik Ace.
The game’s incredible customisation options are part of what made Wrestlemania 2000 so fun. There were so many options in “Create a Wrestler”, which allowed players to create their own character or take on some of the major pro wrestlers like Taka Michinoku and Hulk Hogan.
New game modes were introduced, including the first blood match and cage matches. There was also a signature move system that made it more enjoyable to execute a Stunner and Tombstone than ever before.
Although the Road to Wrestlemania story mode can be difficult, it is also extremely rewarding. It’s the only way to unlock hidden characters such as Shawn Michaels, Shawn Love, and Paul Bearer.
If you don’t have this game, it’s a classic and one of the most popular N64 wrestling games.
1. WWF No Mercy
It is clear that Wrestlemania 2000 was more time-consuming than its predecessor No Mercy. However, No Mercy is undisputedly the best N64 wrestling video and is a cut above all others.
No Mercy is the game you need to show off THQ’s fighting engine at its best. It does everything right, and doesn’t take it too seriously. You could even argue that every wrestling game since WWF No Mercy has gone downhill, at most proportionately to their release dates.
No Mercy has a lot of fun and ranks high on this list. Let’s face it, the Nintendo 64 was a golden era of gaming for many niches and genres. This list shows that wrestling was one.
